The Alliance Building project is part of CAHRO's strategy to systematically bring people together from different sectors of society, from different
areas of California, and from diverse backgrounds to work cooperatively to surmount the obstacles to building a shared identity. The objective is to build the infrastructure necessary to counter the
divisive forces in California with policies, programs and strategies to unite the diverse populations of the state.
The purposed outcome of this project are:
- A statewide alliance of opinion leaders representing key sectors of California society who will provide direction and a framework for stimulating cooperative mult-disciplinary, multi-cultural efforts to counter
tensions resulting from social and economic divisions on a state and national level
- Eight regionally based alliances of opinion leaders representing key sectors within their area who will provide direction and a framework for stimulating multi-disciplinary, mult-cultural efforts to counter
tensions resulting from social and economic divisions within their respective areas.
The 8 geographical regions are:
- Orange, San Diego & Imperial Counties (South Counties)
- Riverside & San Bernardino Counties (The Inland Empire)
- Los Angeles County
- Ventura north to Monterey County (Central Coast)
- Kern north to San Joaquin County (Central Valley)
- Santa Clara southern Alameda & San Mateo Counties (Sillicon Valley)
- San Francisco Bay Area north of Silicon Valley
- Sacramento and northern California
Sectors from which the opinion leaders will be drawn may include, but not be limited to:
- Business
- Labor
- Faith Community
- Government
- Youth or student organizations
- Academia
- Civil rights advocacy
- Non-profit service agencies
